| A tieback is
a horizontal support used to reinforce retaining walls for stability.
One end of the tieback is secured to
the outer wall and the other is anchored into a stable structure
(either man-made or natural). The stable structure resists forces
that
would otherwise cause the wall to lean. Helical anchors are screwed into place. Their capacity is proportional to the torque required during installation. These anchors are installed either for small loads in short sections or for larger loads and in long continuous lengths.
